Map of DUMBO

Now that the summer is finally here, DUMBO is buzzing to the throng of tourists from all over the world. I spend a lot of time out ‘walking’ the streets of Brooklyn. I have noticed a lot of French and Italian tourists making their way over the world famous Brooklyn Bridge and down to the shores of the East River to capture that vacation defining photograph of New York City.  In the past couple of days I have been video’d twice and photographed many, many times. Of course, I really love all the attention, but I do take time to check out who’s around and what they are doing. I am a guard dog after all.

Two nights ago I met a French family outside of Jacques Torres. They wanted to know if it was a french restaurant. I said I didn’t really know as I don’t eat out very often. They proceeded to ask about me and what kind of dog I was (see previous post  I’m center of attention again), when they started to tell me about their french bulldog (naturellement!) back home in Paris. They even had a bag with his picture on it, similar to the one I have in my Neo Store that has my picture on it… I thought we’d make great friends, being from similar ancestors many moons ago, even if we’re of very different sizes.

After I left them across the road from Almondine (I know that’s french!), I got to wondering why they didn’t bring their bulldog to Dumbo. Afterall, it’s very dog friendly – multiple dog runs, lots of green grass, friendly doormen and store owners packing unlimited supplies of dog treats.. As I was pondering on this question, I passed another group of tourists, standing on a street corner, pouring over a map of New York City. That’s when it hit me… there’s no good dog map of DUMBO. That’s why they didn’t bring their bulldog. Happy that I had solved this great puzzle I promptly went home and fell asleep!

Now, just a few days of hard work later, I can unveil my super dooper new “Dog’s Map of Dumbo”….

Dog's Map of DUMBO, Brooklyn

Dog's Map of DUMBO, Brooklyn

It has all of the important items on it. Where to get great dog treats, where to go to do your ‘business’ and naturally a guide to the best places to play ball.  I added the main tourist locations too. I thought it would help doggie tourists no where to go if they get lost. Then there’s the essential water fountain locations. Can’t miss those on a hot day. I like to sit in the park under the trees and drink from the fountain!

Hope it’s a useful map and that we get to see more doggie visitors to DUMBO in the near future.

Maybe I’ll see you in the dog run!
